There are a few things you can do to improve your accuracy when shooting a firearm. Improving accuracy with a firearm takes practise, discipline, and proper technique

  1. Proper Stance – A stable and solid shooting stance will go a long way. Feet shoulder-width apart, dominant foot slightly back, lean slightly forward and bend the knees a bit.
  2. Scope/sight Alignment – Make sure your firearm’s scope or iron sights are properly aligned. For scopes, align the crosshairs with the target and adjust eye relief and parallax. For iron sights, align the front and rear sights and centre the target in the sight picture. Consistent alignment practice leads to better accuracy.
  3. Breath Control – control your breathing to reduce movement while firing. Take a deep breath, exhale half, and then hold your breath while firing.
  4. Trigger Control – Maintain a smooth and controlled trigger pull. Avoid jerking the trigger.
  5. Practise Regularly – Set aside time to regularly practise at the range to improve your accuracy.
